Minecraft developer Mojang has announced that they will be working with Telltale Games to create a new story mode for the game. Mojang says it will be a narrative-driven Minecraft game however they haven't given any specifics on what it would look like.
The first episode will be available sometime in 2015 on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles and PC, Mac, iOS and Android-based devices. That's right. No matter which operating system you're using Minecraft's story mode will work on any system.
Minecraft: Story Mode will be released in a series of episodes, similar to Telltale's other titles The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead. Gearbox, an independent developer, was involved in these games. If you're worried that the story mode could interfere with the player's imagined vision of what the Minecraft world really is like do not fret. Mojang has put these fears to rest with their statement. We're not intending on creating an "official" story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail. It will be a fun game.
